Redhawks Best Bobcats at Home 3-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Women's volleyball bested the Pitt Greensburg Bobcats tonight at the Kerr Sport & Fitness Center 3-1 to improve to 3-2 in AMCC action. After a tough stretch through the middle of the season, the Redhawks have won three of there last four matches, all against conference opponents. La Roche is now 5-2 at home this season where they are averaging 10.24 kills/set, 8.56 assists/set, 15.56 digs/set & 1.60 blocks/set. 

Synopsis

In the first set, La Roche took an early 8-4 lead before the Bobcats went on a 9-1 run to swing the momentum. The Redhawks would go on a 6-1 run of their own late to win the first 26-24. 

Pitt Greensburg started the first 4-0 and never looked back. The Bobcats won the second set 25-21 without giving up the lead once. 

Late in the third set, the score was tied 17-17 before La Roche went on an 8-4 run to take a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set.  

La Roche began the fourth set strong leading 10-4 to start. The Bobcats would battle back to bring the match within two points but La Roche proved tough and came out on top 25-21 to win the match.

LEADING THE ATTACK: Freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Jeric had a career-high 17 kills to lead the Redhawks tonight. Jeric now has the first and second most kills in a single match this season (15 kills vs. Oberlin on 9/21/2019. The Freshman is currently second on the team this year in total kills (118). Senior middle hitter Janet Aland recorded double-digit kills for the second time this season tonight with 10. Junior Reilee Bradford joined Aland with 10 kills, 

SET EM' UP: Senior setter Bailey McDonald recorded a career-high 31 assists to lead La Roche this evening. McDonald has seven matches this season with 20+ assists. Bailey currently has 339 assists this season (6th in the AMCC). She also tacked on 15 digs and 5 kills in tonight's match. 

BACK ROW PLAY: Senior libero Erin Connor led the Redhawks with 20 digs on the night. Connor has recorded 20+ digs in four matches this season. The Senior has totalled 286 digs this season, currently 4th in the AMCC. Four other Redhawks recorded 10 or more digs (McDonald, Freshman setter Cassidy Rossi, Junior right side hitter Reilee Bradford, & Sophomore defensive specialist Sydney Herzer)

AT THE NET: Junior middle hitter Ingrid Spear tied her career-high with 6 solo-blocks on the night. It's the third time in her career she has recorded 6 total blocks in a single match. Spear also hit that mark earlier this season on October 2nd at Mt. Aloysius.
