The Pitt-Bradford baseball team finished its last home series of the season as they fell to AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg 9-8 and 12-9.
Leading the Panthers in the first game was senior Kody Johnston (Homerville, GA/Clinch County) who went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Panthers jumped out to a lead in the first inning after three hits and some sloppy defense by the Bobcats led to RBIs from Johnston, senior Ethan Showers (Hughesville/Hughesville) and freshman Jean Turber (Northumberland/Shikellemy) for a 4-0 advantage.
The Panthers returned the favor as they gave up two errors in the inning and helped Pitt-Greensburg put up three runs in the inning to cut the lead down to 4-3.
The offense continued for the Bobcats as they put up five runs in the fourth to take an 8-4 lead.
After giving up eight unanswered runs, the Panthers came clawing back with one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 8-7 going into the sixth inning.
After getting a runner on third base with one out, the Panthers executed a perfect suicide squeeze play with Johnston at the plate to tie the game up at 8-8.
After coming all the way back, the Bobcats answered in the top of the seventh with one run and went on to hold off the Panthers.
Game two did not start out in the Panthers' favor as the Bobcats scored seven runs in the first two innings with timely hits and sloppy defense from the Panthers to take a 7-0 lead.
The Panthers were able to put up one in the second after a Connor Borowski (Bradford/Bradford) and one in the third to cut the Bobcat lead down to 7-2.
Pitt-Greensburg answered with four runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a Tyler Lilja two-run home run to push the lead to 11-2.
Pitt-Bradford scored one more in the fifth after a series of hits but Lilja got the run back for the Bobcats in the top of the seventh with his second home run of the day as the Bobcats led 12-3.
The Panthers refused to throw in the towel as they went into the last inning and attempted an unthinkable comeback attempt. The Panthers put up six runs in the inning and fell short with the tying run in the on deck circle.
The Panthers will take the field next as they makeup one game against Penn State Behrend on April 27 at 4 p.m.
