AMCC ANNONUCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR SEPTEMBER 26-OCTOBER 2, 2022

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, tennis, and women's volleyball for the period running from September 26-October 2, 2022.

Women's Tennis: PS-Behrend FR Jayna Baer went undefeated without giving up a set point in both conference matches in singles and doubles competition. She blanked her opponents at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. For the week, she posted a 3-1 record at both singles and doubles.

Women's Volleyball(Offensive): La Roche OH Bethany Nulph took the court by storm last week, as she recorded 40 kills, with most being earned against Lycoming with 23; putting her at 4.0 kills per set. Nulph showed her competitors this weekend that she can play defense just as well as she can offense and racked up 47 digs (21 against Lycoming alone), one block, and one assist over three matches. She finished the week with 4.0 kills per set, 4.7 digs per set, five service aces, and two blocks while recording a .279 hitting percentage.

Women's Volleyball (Defensive): Mount Aloysius OH Molly Richards had an impressive week, tallying 41 kills and 74 digs as the Mounties went 2-2 last week. On Thursday, she set a career-high in both kills (16) and digs (20), in a win against Hood. Saturday, she produced another career-high in digs, with 30 in a loss to Lebanon Valley. For the week, Richards averaged 4.63 digs per set, 2.56 kills per set and also added two blocks.

Men's Soccer (Offensive): Pitt-Greensburg F Caleb Yuricha had a goal and two assists on seven shots for the Bobcats in a 4-1 win over Hilbert on Saturday. He had a shot percentage of .143 and a shot on goal percentage of .571. 

Men's Soccer (Defensive): Alfred State GK Thaddeus Grierson recorded a shutout against Wells in dominant 8-0 win before getting a shutout in the second half against PS-Altoona after going down 2-0 in opening conference match. The Pioneers came back to beat the Lions 4-2.

Women's Soccer (Offensive): PS-Altoona F Mallorie Smith had an impressive week for the Lions, scoring four goals in two games, including notching her second collegiate hat trick. In Wednesday night's home loss to non-conference opponent Alfred, the junior forward scored the Lions' lone goal on a penalty kick and finished with two shots on goal. In Saturday's big 3-0 victory at AMCC opponent Alfred State, Smith accounted for all three scores to notch the hat trick, finishing with three shots on goal. On the week, Smith had four goals for a total of eight points while recording five shots on goal.

Women's Soccer (Defensive): La Roche GK Jules Hornikel has started every game played this year as a freshman. She picked up the shutout against conference rival Pitt-Bradford. She recorded four saves on four shots taken against her.

Men's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SO Kody Klein led the Lions at the NAA Division III Pre-Meet, running the 8K in 27:10.2 for 157th place overall (out of 329 runners).

Women's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SR Savanna Carr was first on the team and 95th out of 319 runners at the NCAA DIII Pre-Meet held on Saturday. She crossed the finish line in 23:57.5 for the 6K.
