AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY THEN & NOW SERIES: BRIANNA BAKER, MT. ALOYSIUS COLLEGE

Brianna Baker has been a mainstay on the sidelines at Mount Aloysius College for most of the NCAA-era at the school, as a dual-sport athlete, as well as a coach.

Baker was named the third Head Women's Volleyball Coach in school history in August of 2008. In 14 seasons, she has led the program to 130 wins and seven AMCC Tournament appearances. In 2017 and 2018, she led the program to two consecutive record-breaking seasons, as they won 17 and 18 games, respectively. In both seasons, the team finished as the second-seed, before falling in the AMCC Tournament.

She has mentored many AMCC all-conference performers, including five first team honorees, with the most recent being Machala Gibbons.

Prior to transitioning to coaching, Baker was a member of both the Women’s Basketball and Volleyball teams at Mount Aloysius. In basketball, she was a two-time AMCC all-conference member, including a second team selection in 2008. She ranks third in program history with 584 career rebounds, grabbing 236 of those during the 2007-08 campaign.

Volleyball was her best sport, as she was a four-time all-conference selection, with two of them being first team. In 2004, she was named the Newcomer of the Year before being named to the second team as a freshman. Then, in 2007, she was named to the first team and also selected as the Preseason Player of the Year. She holds program records for most kills per set (7.65), career kills (1,694), career hitting percentage (.379), and career blocks (377), among others.

In addition to her coaching duties, Baker currently serves as the college’s Director of Mission and Ministry. While coordinating many of the service opportunities at the college, she also has led student service trips both in the United States and to other countries.

The Then & Now Series is part of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s 25th anniversary, where the conference will be recognizing current AMCC coaches and/or athletic administrators who are former AMCC student-athletes. The Then & Now Series will run every Tuesday throughout the academic year.
