AMCC PROUD TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF CONFERENCE

A year-long series of events has begun to mark the 25th anniversary of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.

Throughout 2021-22, the AMCC will celebrate the milestone in a mulitude of ways. The most prominent will be the unveiling of a special anniversary logo, incorporating symbolic elements. Silver has been added to the logo to commemorate the 25 years the conference has been in existence.  The victory leaf banner symbolizing athletic achievement outlines the primary design.

The anniversary logo will be displayed on the website and on all digital and printed media throughout the year. Each AMCC institution will also receive two banners to display at their indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. Student-athletes awarded with an AMCC championship this year will receive an "AMCC Champions" t-shirt immediately at the conclusion of the championship contest, also with the anniversary design.

The AMCC will be announcing 25th Anniversary Teams throughout the academic year. Each team will be announced on the first date of conference competition in that sport.

Fans and family members of the AMCC will also notice multiple social media series going on throughout the year. The AMCC will feature the Then & Now Series, as well as The Distinguised Alumni Series. The Then & Now Series will highlight current AMCC coaches and/or athletic administrators who are former AMCC student-athletes. The Distinguised Alumni Series will recognize former AMCC student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in their area of study and/or profession.

The AMCC will also recognize the institutions who have been in the league all 25 years, as well as individuals who have marked a quarter century of service in coaching or administration in the conference.

The founding members of the AMCC -- La Roche College (now University), Penn State Behrend, Pitt-Bradford, Pitt-Greensburg, Frostburg State University, and Lake Erie College -- will also be recognized via social media at the beginning of the academic year.

"The silver anniversary is a major milestone for the AMCC," said Commissioner Donna Ledwin, who has led the conference for the past 20 years.  "It's amazing to look back and see how far we've come, from six founding members to nine full and seven affiliate members, from ten sports to eighteen, from a rotating commissioner responsibility among the ADs to two full-time staff members.

"There is always room for growth and improvement, but it's important to take the time and reflect on all that has been accomplished.  This will be an exciting year as we recognize what our members have been able to achieve in what has truly been a team effort for the past 245 years."
