PITT-BRADFORD'S AMADI SELECTED TO ATTEND NCAA DIVISION III STUDENT IMMERSION PROGRAM

University of Pittsburgh at Bradford senior student-athlete Ugwunna Amadi has been selected by the NCAA to attend the Division III Student Immersion Program this January.

Amadi is a senior who is planning to graduate this Spring, with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. After graduation, he is looking to attend graduate school with the eventual goal of becoming an athletic director in collegiate athletics or a general manager at the professional level. Ugwunna was a three year member of the men's soccer team, and also played for 2 years on the men's basketball team.

The NCAA DIII Immersion Program brings 40 students of ethnic minority backgrounds from around the country to the annual NCAA Convention in January. The trip is fully funded by the NCAA, and recipients will be exposed to the NCAA Division III, its members and governance process. Recipients will attend scheduled programming as part of the convention, DiSC team communication training and welcome and debrief meetings. The goal of the program is to provide the recipients with training and networking opportunities to help them grow into a career in NCAA coaching or administration.

Lambert, as he is affectionately known on campus, said he applied for the program because it will provide him with an excellent opportunity to build skills that will help him in the future, while also allowing him to create a strong professional network within the field of Intercollegiate Athletics. Amadi said, "I am extremely excited for this opportunity to learn about intercollegiate athletics while also having an excellent opportunity to network and travel."

The 2020 NCAA Convention will be held between January 22nd and January 25th 2020. It will be held in Anaheim, California. More information about the NCAA DIII Student Immersion Program can be found here
