BEHREND FAR CHUCK BROWN APPOINTED TO TOP NCAA GOVERNING COUNCIL

Penn State Behrend Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), Dr. Chuck Brown has been elected to serve on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Management Council, which is one of the top governing councils within the Division III and NCAA structure.

Brown, associate director of the Black School of Business and associate professor of accounting, is one of just two FARs in the entire country that serve on the council. His four-year term began in January.

The Management Council reports directly to the President’s Council and handles the implementation of policies adopted by the Association’s Board of Governors and Division III President’s Council. The  Management Council may sponsor legislative proposals; make interpretations of Division III’s bylaws; and may also handle resolution of issues and recommendations from other committees and working groups throughout the divisions substructure.

Brown has served as a member of the Intercollegiate Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee since 2015 and has been FAR at Behrend since 2009.

It’s really great to have Chuck in a leadership position on the NCAA Division III Management Council,” said Brian Streeter, senior director of athletics, “This is a national committee, and Penn State Behrend has a seat at the table.”
