Pitt-Greensburg's Cayla Ray and Medaille College's Jaime Salcedo have been selected as the recipients of the AMCC Faculty Athletics Representatives Award from among 20 outstanding student-athletes nominated.
Ray, who was recently named the AMCC's nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, graduated summa cum laude in just three and a half years with a 3.99 grade point average as a biological sciences major and psychology minor. She won numerous academic accolades at Pitt-Greensburg, and was selected as the student speaker at UPG's commencement. Ray also excelled on the tennis court where she was a two year captain and sportsmanship award recipient. This past season she earned first team all-conference honors at #3 singles and second team all-conference at #2 doubles. Ray was also extremely active in community service activities. Among many contributions were her 400+ hours serving meals at the End Hunger Cafe. She is planning to pursue a career in dentistry.
Salcedo graduated this past May with a perfect 4.0 GPA, majoring in accounting. A captain on the soccer team, he was named to the CoSIDA/Captial One Academic All-America Team. A midfielder who scored 3 goals and 3 assists last season for the highly successful Mavericks program, he was recently selected to play on the USA D3 Team which will travel to Brazil this summer to play in a series of international "friendlies." Salcedo also represents the AMCC on the NCAA DIv. III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where he was also selected to serve as one of two student representatives on the Div. III Management Council.
