PENN ST. BEHREND MEN, WOMEN LOOK TO DEFEND CROSS COUNTRY TITLES

The Penn St. Behrend Lions men’s and women’s cross country teams are both looking to defend their 2013 AMCC Championship titles.

The Behrend men have finished in the top five in all but two races this year.  On September 6, the Lions won the Franciscan Invitational, which featured many of the AMCC teams on the course that will be hosting the AMCC Championships. Franciscan finished second, with Penn St. Altoona coming in third.  Penn St. Behrend claimed the top three finishers in the race, with junior Devin Beggs winning the 8K race with a time of 28:37. Penn St. Behrend, Franciscan, and Penn St. Altoona have claimed all of the AMCC Runners of the Week to date for 2014.

While the Penn St. Behrend women’s team claimed the 2013 AMCC title, it was the Franciscan women who won the Franciscan Invitational in early September, which once again featured many of the AMCC teams on the championship course.  Franciscan senior Sydney Novak won the 6K race with a time of 26:09.  Penn St. Altoona’s Morgan Pensyl came in second, while her team also claimed second place for the team title and Penn St. Behrend rounded out the top three.

The AMCC Championships will take place on Saturday, November 1 at Franciscan University.
