Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball closes out its home regular season schedule with an
AMCC showdown against Penn State Behrend this Saturday, October 24 at 1:00 PM in the Adler
Gym. The Lady Lions will be looking to extend their streak of 16 consecutive regular season
home wins over conference opponents while they fight for seeding in the upcoming AMCC
Tournament.

The Behrend Lions are in a three-way tie for first place in the AMCC heading into the weekend. Behrend faces the other two teams in the next week with a 5-1 record, including Penn State Altoona tomorrow for game of the week. The Lions control their own destiny to be named regular-season champions and host the AMCC Tournament. Behrend is looking to avenge a pair of losses to Altoona last year, including a close 3-2 loss in the conference semifinals. Junior outside hitter Paige Scurpa leads the Lions with 189 kills and ranks second in digs (296). Senior libero Courtney Hopson is third in the conference with 4.89 digs per set.

The date also marks the team’s Senior Day ceremony, and its two senior players, outside hitters
Becky Britton and Amanda Hammer, are having fine seasons while showing their versatility.
Britton is 15th in the conference in kills (149) and kills per set (2.16) while ranking sixth in digs
per set (4.28) and eighth in digs (295). Hammer is sixth in kills per set (2.54) and seventh in kills
(198), as well as being fifth in service aces (31) and sixth in solo blocks (19).
Sophomore middle hitter Tori Shingler, who was this week’s AMCC and ECAC Division III
South Region Player of the Week, is also enjoying a strong season for the Lady Lions. She leads
the conference in hitting percentage (.344), ranks third in kills (212) and kills per set (2.62), and
is sixth in total blocks (55) and seventh in blocks per set (0.68). Sophomore setter Jenna Krivansky has the fourth-most set assists (643) in the league, and she is third in assists per set (8.04). Junior libero Emily Baker holds the second-best digs per set average (5.23) in the conference while ranking fourth in digs (424).
