The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA. Top seed Pitt-Greensburg will take on No. 4 Mount Aloysius College at 3:30pm, while No. 2 Penn State Behrend will face No. 3 Penn State Altoona following the first match.
With a 5-0 conference record, the Pitt-Greensburg women's tennis team enters the conference tournament as the top seed and will be looking for their third straight AMCC title. While the Bobcats are led by three-time AMCC Player of the Year Emily Ruhlman, they bring a wealth of experience and depth with them to the postseason. Ruhlman and Isabella Lane each went 5-0 in singles play during the regular season. Ruhlman went undefeated in the top singles spot, while Lane split time between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. In doubles play, Ruhlman/Eden Richey went 5-0 at the No. 1 spot, while Lane/Cathryn Rossi and Abby Rosman/Amber Sterrett each went 4-0 at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions, respectively.
Penn State Behrend enters the tournament as the #2 seed with a 4-1 record. Behrend's Tamanna Sharma and Keri Saulino each went 5-0 at the No. 2 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively. In doubles play, Erica Jasinski and Lindsey Kerlin went 3-1 at the No. 1 spot.
Penn State Altoona went 3-2 in AMCC play this season, earning themselves the #3 seed in the championship tournament. In singles play, the Lions got 3-2 records from Mikhaela Merca (No. 1), Caitlin Blessel (No. 2), and Lauren Stitch (No. 5). Blessel and Merca also went 3-2 in the top doubles position, as well.
Rounding out the field is 2-3 Mount Aloysius with the #4 seed. Mountie freshman Caylie Conlon led her team with a 3-1 record at No. 3 singles. Conlon and Kendra Sines went 2-0 in the No. 1 doubles position.
The winners of Saturday's matches will square off on Sunday at 1:30pm for the AMCC Championship.
