WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAMS TO SQUARE OFF FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP

The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA. Top seed Pitt-Greensburg will take on No. 4 Mount Aloysius College at 4:30pm, while No. 2 Penn State Behrend will face No. 3 Penn State Altoona following the first match.

Defending AMCC champion, Pitt-Greensburg, enters the championship tournament with a perfect 5-0 conference record. The Bobcats saw five different singles players go undefeated during regular season conference play. Emily Ruhlman (No. 1), Eden Richey (No. 2), Abby Rosman (No. 3), Cathryn Rossi (No. 4), and Amber Sterrett (No. 5) all went 5-0 against their AMCC opponents. Top doubles pair, Ruhlman and Richey, went 5-0 in doubles play, along with Rosman and Stewart at the No. 2 spot.

Penn State Behrend, 14-time AMCC champions, went 4-1 in regular season play. The Lions' top five singles players all went 4-1 in the AMCC, including No. 1 Erica Jasinski, No. 2 Rachel Weber, No. 3 Jayna Baer, No. 4 Rachel Fleming, and No. 5 Keri Saulino. Jasinski and Weber also went 4-1 in the top doubles position, while No. 2 Baer/Fleming also went 4-1.

Entering the tournament with a 3-2 conference mark, is Penn State Altoona. The Lions are led by Michaela Merca, who went 3-2 in the top singles spot. Doubles partners Isabella Rhoades and Stephanie Swain earned a 4-0 record during the regular season, while Merca and Stephanie Swain went 3-2 in the No. 1 doubles position.

Rounding out the tournament field is No. 4 Mount Aloysius with a 2-3 record in conference play. The Mounties are led in singles play by Kierra Mountain (No. 2) and Julia Davis (No. 3), both with 3-2 records. Davis and doubles partner Campbell McCann earned a 3-2 record in the No. 2 spot.

The winners of Saturday's matches will square off on Sunday at 3:30pm for the AMCC Championship.
