FRANCISCAN, MOUNT ALOYSIUS TO MEET FOR WOMEN'S TENNIS TITLE

Franciscan University and Penn State Altoona will clash on Sunday to decide the 2018 AMCC women's tennis champion.

The top seeded and two-time defending champion Lady Barons swept past #4 Medaille College, 5-0, while running their conference unbeaten streak to 29.  Franciscan got their points from #1 doubles (Maria Binette/Madelyn Conrad), #2 doubles (Julia Razook/Taranee Karimpour), #3 doubles (Grace Hammel/Anna Maria Haddad), #2 singles (Binette) and #3 singles (Haddad Garcia).  Boxscore

In the second semifinal, #3 Mount Aloysius College took a 5-3 win over #2 Penn St. Altoona in a ssesaw battle.  The Mounties were led with wins at #2 doubles (Payton Whysong/Leah Stoehr), #3 doubles (Katelynn Arnold/Maggie Willason), #3 singles (Whysong), #5 singles (Arnold) and #6 singles (Willason).  The Lions got points from #1 doubles (Jessica Stevens/Manoela Quadros), #1 singles (Stevens) and #2 singles (Quadros).  Boxscore

Sunday's championship will begin at 1:30pm at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA.  The winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
