Penn State Altoona freshman Jessica Stevens swept the women's tennis top honors, as she was named the 2018 AMCC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Stevens had a standout freshman year, playing all of her singles matches at #1, she went a perfect 12-0 -- including 8-0 in the AMCC. Her 12 singles wins set a new Penn State Altoona single season record. Stevens ranked first in the conference in overall singles wins and #1 singles wins (12). She was also tops in the AMCC #1 singles wins with eight. In doubles, Stevens was 8-4 overall, playing all of her doubles matches in the #1 spot. Her doubles record included a 6-2 mark against AMCC doubles opponents.
Franciscan University head coach Scott Greve and Penn State Altoona's Doug Simmons have been named Co-Coaches of the Year. Greve led the Barons to a perfect 11-0 overall record, going 8-0 in conference play. As the top-seed in the conference tournament, Franciscan also claimed the 2018 AMCC women's tennis title, their fourth in the past five years.
Simmons led the Lady Lions to a 7-1 conference mark and coached freshman Jessica Stevens to earn Player & Newcomer of the Year honors. Stevens is the program's first player of the year since Allison Schwartz earned the title in 2003.
