FRANCISCAN DEFEATS BEHREND FOR FIRST EVER AMCC WOMEN'S TENNIS CROWN AND NCAA TOURNAMENT BID

Franciscan University won their first AMCC women's tennis title and the first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for any Baron women's program when they defeated defending champion and #2 seed Penn St. Behrend, 5-2, on Sunday.

The top seeded Lady Barons were led by Allison Jensen and Erin Coyne.  The duo teamed up to take #2 doubles, 8-5, then rolling to singles victories at #4 and #5 singles to earn three of the five team points.

Franciscan finished the season with 10 straight wins over AMCC opponents, eight during the regular season and two in the conference tournament.  They will represent the AMCC at the NCAA Division III tournament in May.
