UPG WOMEN'S SOCCER DRAWS CASE WESTERN RESERVE IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
The Pitt-Greensburg women’s soccer team will be traveling to Cleveland, OH to take part in the program’s second NCAA Tournament, all coming within the last three seasons. The Bobcats will take on the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University in the first round. The Spartans defeated Carnegie Mellon University 1-0 in the UAA Championship on Saturday.
The Spartans played one AMCC team in the regular season, as they defeated Behrend 3-0 in a match on September 21. Case Western went 15-0-1 on the season and 6-0-1 in conference play. Case has just one player that scored double digit goals this season in Graduate Student Camryn Hartman.
The Spartans will be challenged by the Bobcats back line who surrendered just three goals throughout conference play and the AMCC Tournament. The Bobcats will also challenge Case with their explosive offense that features two 18 goal scorers in senior Ashely Lucas and freshman Megan Hickey.
The Bobcats had three other players to score over five goals in freshmen Maya Wertelet and Abby Henise as well as junior Becca Kubler.
The game will be this Saturday and game time is yet to be determined.
