PITT-GREENSBURG, BEHREND WOMEN ADVANCE TO AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Top-seeded Pitt-Greensburg and second-seeded Penn State Behrend each earned semifinal victories on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the 2019 AMCC Women's Soccer Championship match. #1 Pitt-Greensburg came out on top of the hard fought victory over #4 D'Youville College, winning 1-0 in overtime. #2 Penn State Behrend also needed the extra period to get the win, a 3-2 OT victory over #3 Mount Aloysius College.

Pitt-Greensburg 1, D'Youville 0 (OT)
Tiffany Michalek's overtime game-winning goal gave the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over D'Youville in the AMCC semifinal match. Michalek headed home a Jenna Conty corner kick into the back right portion of the net for her 18th goal of the season and propelled the Bobcats to their second AMCC Championship appearance in program history. Goalkeepers for both sides played well in the match with Bobcat sophomore goalie Lauren Yoder making four saves in regulation, while the Spartans' Laurie Poeller countered with four stops for D'Youville. Each netminder made a save in the extra period, but after wining its seventh corner kick of the match and second in OT, Conty put a curling ball into the box that Michalek managed to get a head to and direct the attempt past the keeper for the game-winner.

Penn State Behrend 3, Mount Aloysius College 2 (OT)
The Penn State Behrend women's soccer team defeated Mt. Aloysius 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday in the AMCC semifinal game. Lion freshman Bella Sestito had the game-winning goal over the Mounties in the 91st minute of play. With 3:22 left in regulation, Behrend goalkeeper Madi Jones stopped a breakaway from Mt. Aloysius' Maddie Doyle to keep the game tied and force overtime. Behrend forward Brenna McGuire scored the first goal of the game to put the Lions ahead, assisted by Taylor Mealie. The Mounties answered at the 33-minute mark with a header off a corner kick by Kourtney Walls to tie up the game. Behrend's Emily Scaletta responded with her first goal of the season off a cross from McGuire. In the 57th minute, Johnna Adams scored for Mt. Aloysius to again tie the game and force overtime. Sestito's game-winning goal was her second game-winner of the season. Jones improved to a 10-2-2 record in goal and played her tenth complete game in net.

Saturday's championship between Pitt-Greensburg and Penn St. Behrend will be played on Pitt-Greensburg's campus at Ridilla Field, where kickoff is slated for 2 pm.
