PITT-GREENSBURG WOMEN WIN AMCC TITLE, PUNCH TICKET TO NCAA TOURNAMENT

Pitt- Greensburg defeated Penn State Behrend by a 3-2 margin to earn their 1st AMCC women's soccer title.

With the win, the Bobcats earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Bobcats didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as junior midfielder Allie Grimm scored her sixth goal of the season less than two minutes into the game to put Pitt-Greensburg up 1-0. The Bobcats' goal was assisted by freshman midfielder Alexsia Barlamas.

Penn State Behrend sophomore forward Brenna McGuire answered back as she tied the game at 1-1 on an unassisted goal 24:05 into the game.

At the 41:51 mark in the first half, Pitt-Greensburg took the 2-1 lead when junior midfielder Erika Caldro connected on her first goal of the season when she scored on an assist by Tiffany Michalek.

Pitt-Greensburg started the second half off similar to the first, as the Bobcats scored in the first five minutes to build their lead. Freshman forward Ashley Lucas scored on a penalty kick with 40:35 remaining to give UPG the 3-1 lead.

Behrend closed the gap with 13:15 left in regulation, as Payton Porter scored on a pass from Brenna McGuire to make it 3-2, setting the final score. 

The NCAA tournament pairings and schedule will be announced on Monday.
