BEHREND CLAIMS 7TH STRAIGHT AMCC WOMEN'S SOCCER TTITLE

Penn St. Behrend lived up to their top billing in the AMCC women's soccer tournament and came away with a 3-2 win over #3 Franciscan University in the championship match.  It was the seventh straight title for the Lions, and thirteenth overall.

The game was a high energy affair, with the Barons seemingly oblivious to the Lions' storied run of championships.  The teams traded goals early in the first half, with Behrend's Jordan Oberlander knocking one in on a solo effort only to be answered a minute later by Franciscan's Megan Luiso.  Oberlander struck again at the end of the second half for a 2-1 lead, but the Barons responded with an unassisted effort by Katie Killian to even the match in the second frame.

With little more than two minutes remaining, Oberlander combined with Olivia Belack who put the ball past Sarah Luebking for the game-winner.  Luebking was stellar for the Barons, making 10 saves on 13 shots.

The conference finals appearance was the first ever by the Barons' women's soccer side, who upset #2 seed Mount Aloyius College in the semifinals.

With the victory, Behrend earns the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.  The pairiings and schedule will be announced Monday.
