FRANCISCAN EARNS TOP SEED FOR FIRST-EVER AMCC WOMEN'S LACROSSE SHOWCASE

2017 marks the first season in which the AMCC sponsored women's lacrosse, and the teams are now gearing up for the inaugural AMCC Women's Lacrosse Showcase Tournament which will take place this weekend, Thursday, May 4 and Sunday, May 7.

Medaille College (12-3, 3-0 AMCC) claimed the first AMCC regular season title, and finished in third in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). Because the NEAC is the Mavericks' primary women's lacrosse conference, they will be participating in the NEAC conference tournament this weekend rather than the AMCC showcase.

With Medaille participating in the NEAC tournament, Franciscan University (8-7, 2-1 AMCC) will take over as the top seed in the AMCC Showcase. Junior M Mary Krolicki ranks second in the conference with 53 goals and is fourth with 60 points. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Bain is second in the league in saves (131), and is tops in save percentage (44.9) and goals-against average (10.73).

#2 Hilbert College (3-9, 1-2 AMCC) is led by freshman M Emily Gawlak who ranks fourth in the AMCC with 47 goals and is third with 15 assists. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Repine is first in the league with 132 saves and is second with a 41.1 save percentage.

D'Youville College (0-9, 0-3 AMCC) rounds out the showcase as the #3 seed. Junior M Jillian Golding leads the Spartans with 24 goals and five assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Gawrys leads the AMCC with just 60 goals against and has recorded a 26.8 save percentage.

The showcase tournament tips off on Thursday, May 4 with D'Youville at Hilbert. The winner of that game will travel to Franciscan on Sunday to take on the Barons for the inaugural women's lacrosse showcase title.
