WILLIAM SMITH'S JUMP NAMED NTCA DIVISION III ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

William Smith College bowling freshman Colleen Jump was named the 2023-24 Division III Rookie of the Year by the National Tenpin Coaches Association. She's the first Heron in any sport to be named the nation's top rookie since Chelsea Rauck was the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rookie of the Year in 2005-06.

Jump was tops in Division III in single-pin spare conversion percentage at 91.9%. She was second on the team, averaging 18.46 pins per frame this season. Jump had a league-leading 80.8% overall fill percentage, recording 365 strikes and 414 spares in 956 frames.

A first team AMCC all-conference selection, Jump was twice named the AMCC Bowler of the Week. She rolled 36 strikes in both the AMCC Baker Round Robin and the AMCC Traditional Round Robin.

William Smith, in just its second varsity season, posted an impressive 50-23 record. The Herons, who were picked to finish eighth in the AMCC preseason coaches poll, earned a share of the AMCC regular season championship and secured their first AMCC Tournament title. William Smith earned its first national ranking when the Herons debuted at No. 11 in the February NTCA Division II/III poll.

As the conference champion, William Smith earned an automatic bid to the NCAA National Collegiate Bowling Championship. The Herons defeated Division II Fayetteville State in the first round of the Rochester Regional before falling to Division I foes, No. 2 Arkansas State and No. 4 Vanderbilt, in the second and third rounds, respectively.
