SAINT VINCENT WINS TIEBREAKER TO CLAIM TOP SPOT AFTER FIRST ROUND ROBIN

At the conclusion of day three of the first AMCC Round Robin of the season, Saint Vincent College, William Smith College, and Alvernia University all tied at the top of the standings with a 9-1 record. Saint Vincent won the total pin tiebreaker to officially claim the top spot in league standings. 

Taking an 8-0 record into the final day, the Bearcats were tested in the first match of the day by New Jersey City University.  SVC had a 57-pin lead going into the final game, but the Gothic Knights started the final game with five consecutive strikes.  The Bearcats managed to finish that game strong, and won total pins by a 32-pin margin, 961-929.
 
After a bye round, the Bearcats entered the final match of the day with a 9-0 record, but were unable to complete the tournament sweep. Facing Alvernia, which entered with an 8-1 record, Saint Vincent won the first two games by scores of 165-161 and 179-164, but Alvernia cut into the gap with a 197-194 win in game three. Game four was the Bearcats' downfall, as they lost 201-143, giving Alvernia a 40+ pin advantage going to the last game.  Alvernia won the last game 205-198, taking the total pinfall by a 928-879 tally

The Herons entered Sunday with a 6-1 record. They defeated La Roche University 895-711 in their first match Sunday morning, they then picked up an 833-789 victory over Pitt-Greensburg before rounding out the day with a 875-763 win over Penn State Behrend. 

The Golden Wolves were also 6-1 coming into Sunday, while also picking up three wins on the day. They started out by defeating Penn State Altoona in their first match of the day 830-771, before going on to beat Mount Aloysius College (824-717). Alvernia ended the weekend with a bang by giving Saint Vincent their first loss of the entire weekend, picking up the big928-879. 

The second AMCC Round Robin of the season will take place the first weekend in February in North Brunswick, New Jersey, and the combined totals from both rounds will set the seeding for the conference tournament in March, with the top six teams facing off in Pittsburgh.
