MEDAILLE WINS ROUND ROBIN TIEBREAKER TO EARN TOP SEED IN TOURNAMENT

The Medaille College and Saint Vincent College women's bowling teams each compiled 16-2 overall records in conference play to be named AMCC Regular Season Co-Champions. Despite the indentical records, the Mavericks prevailed in total pinfall in head-to-head matches (1,857 to 1,745) with the Bearcats to claim the top seed in the upcoming AMCC Bowling Championship Tournament. 

The Mavs and Bearcats entered Sunday tied for first place the second AMCC round robin of the season. The top team at the end of the day would earn the coveted first seed entering the AMCC Championship Tournament. The Mavericks and Bearcats were set to face off against each other later in the day, as both teams entered play at 13-1.

The Mavs started the day slow, dropping their matchup against D'Youville College 838-902, moving the Mavericks to 13-2 overall in conference play.

Second in line for the Mavericks were the Hawks from Hilbert College. The Mavericks began to gain their momentum for the day by defeating Hilbert by a score of 806-607.

The Mavericks took on Penn State Behrend in their third match of the day. Building off their win against Hilbert the Mavs defeated Behrend 839-796. 

It was make or break time, the Mavericks and Bearcats faced off in the final match of the day, a winner take all affair for the #1 seed. The Mavericks defeated the Bearcats in commanding fashion by a score of 941-772. Making each team 16-2 overall in conference play, the Mavericks won the tiebreaker of total pins  to claim the top seed.

It was a total team effort over the day for the Mavs, as they were led by junior Elizabeth Minnard who bowled the team-high score for the day at 212. 

For the weekend, Mount Aloysius College tied with Medaille with an 8-1 mark. The Mounties were led by sophomore Nicole Nebel and junior Michelle Bello, who averaged 180.44 and 180.22, respectively. Saint Vincent went 7-2 on the weekend, led by Meghan Christman with a 178.89 average.

Penn State Behrend senior Brianna Lundy led all bowlers for the weekend with a 193.56 average, while throwing five games over 200. Medaille senior Ysobel Conrad recorded the second-best average on the weekend with a 189.67, while D'Youville's Ashley Len was third overall with a 186.67.

The top six teams from the two round robins will advance to the AMCC Championship, which will be held March 20-22 at Sims Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA.
