MEDAILLE CLAIMS BOWLING REGULAR SEASON TITLE AFTER WINNING SECOND ROUND ROBIN

The Medaille College Mavericks were victorious in their second AMCC Round Robin of the season, claiming a regular season title and the top seed heading into the championship tournament.

The Mavs, along with Mount Aloysius College, both led the way with 6-1 records on the weekend. However, since Medaille won the head-to-head matchup, the Mavericks came out on top in the standings.

Medaille would first go up against Penn-State Altoona and would roll their best game of the day, knocking down 913 pins collectively vs. 668 for the Lions. Elizabeth Minnard rolled a solid 207 for the blue and gold. The second match did not see the same result for the Mavs. Medaille would be knocked off for the first time in the AMCC Round Robin by Saint Vincent College, 840-820. Mercedes Belch led the way for the Bearcats, as she recorded the top score of 185. The Mavericks wrapped up the Round Robin clinching the regular season title, defeating New Jersey City University, 822-795. Carla Hansen led Medaille with a 181.

The four teams advancing to the AMCC championship tournament include No. 1 Medaille (13-1), No 2. Mount Aloysius (11-3), No. 3 Saint Vincent (11-3), and No. 4 Pitt-Bradford (7-7).

The Mounties and Bearcats, tied with 11-3 conference records, split head-to-head in their regular season matchups. Saint Vincent had the upper hand in the first Round Robin, while Mount Aloysius evened the series this past weekend. The next tiebreak criteria is total pinfall in the two Round Robins combined. While the Bearcats edged the Mounties in the first matchup with 1,026 total pins to the Mounties' 1,008 in the five game Baker format, Mount Aloysius came up big this weekend in traditional play with 937 total pins to Saint Vincent's 731. With two scores combined, Mount Aloysius' 1,945 total pins put them ahead of Saint Vincent's 1,757 and thus awards the Mounties with the second seed.

The AMCC championship tournament will take place on March 22-24 at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA.  It will feature a double round robin, mega match format with the winner earning the right to represent the conference at the NCAA tournament.
