MEDAILLE BOWLING TO TAKE ON ARKANSAS STATE IN NCAA OPENER

The Medaille College women's bowling team won their third straight AMCC Tournament Championship last week and yesterday they found out where their historic season will take them next.

During the 2019 NCAA Bowling Selection Show it was announced that the Mavericks will take on the Red Wolves of Arkansas State on Tuesday, April 9 in Wickliffe, Ohio. The Mavs opening round matchup with the Red Wolves is the only opening round match of the tournament scheduled to take place in the same lanes as the championship round scheduled for April 11-13.

Medaille became just the third Division III program in NCAA Bowling history to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament since its inception, and will represent the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference after earning the conference's first ever automatic bid.

The Mavericks go into the NCAA Tournament with a 60-40 overall record and having gone 13-1 in AMCC play. Medaille swept Pitt Bradford and Mount Aloysius College in the first two rounds of the AMCC Tournament before prevailing in a best-of-seven baker match with the Mounties to secure their third straight crown.

On the other side of the lanes, Arkansas State will be making their 12th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament after securing an at-large selection from the NCAA Bowling Committee and finishing the regular season with a 73-43 record.

The winner of Tuesday's match will advance to the Championship Round to face the Cornhuskers of Nebraska on Thursday, April 11.
