D'YOUVILLE'S PFEIFFER SETS PROGRAM THREE-POINT RECORD

D'Youville College freshman guard Sara Pfeiffer had a record evening on Wednesday, January 15 in the team’s 73-59 win over Pitt.-Bradford.

Pfeiffer drilled 10 three-pointers on Wednesday, setting the new program mark for the women. In addition, Pfeiffer broke the overall D’Youville basketball record for three-pointers made in a game of seven, held by her head coach and former D’Youville men’s basketball player, Dan Glover.

In the win over the Panthers, Pfeiffer shot 10-16 (62.5%) from three and 12-20 (60.0%) from the field as she scored 34 points for the women. She added three assists and two rebounds.

Pfeiffer has scored in double-figures in all three games of her young career with D’Youville. Against La Roche on January 4, the freshman scored 18 points as she shot 41.2% from the field. She then followed up with 19 points on 46.7% shooting from the field and 40.0% from three in the 68-53 win over Mount Aloysius on January 8, adding five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Through three games, Pfeiffer is averaging 23.7 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game, 2.7 steals per game, and 1.0 assists per game. Her sharp shooting is not limited to her 47.4 three-point percentage, but she is also shooting 50.0% from the field.

Scoring at a high rate is not new for Pfeiffer as she is the all-time leading scorer at Olean High School for men and women’s basketball. She holds the single-game scoring record with 63 points and scored over 2,000 points in her career at Olean.

Amongst her awards, Pfeiffer has been named Big-30 First Team, Big-30 Co-Player of the Year, All-WNY Top 25 First Team, and Class B Player of the Year.
