HILBERT'S DELANEY NAMED TO CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

HILBERT'S DELANEY NAMED TO CoSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

Hilbert College senior outfielder Maia Delaney was named to the 2020 Academic All-District® Softball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The organization recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Delaney, who had already earned the Hilbert College McGrath Award this spring, became the first Hilbert softball player to be honored by the CoSIDA voting membership for outstanding academic and athletic achievement.

Delaney, a 2019 Second Team AMCC All-Conference selection, finished her final season of competition focusing on distance learning rather than softball competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.  She earned a 4.0 this spring semester, graduated with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average and was presented a Forensic Science / Crime Scene Investigation degree in May.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.  The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA and those Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 8-11.
