FRANCISCAN'S WEISS, BEHREND'S HAUSER PICK UP NFCA ALL-REGION HONORS

Franciscan University 2B Allyson Weiss and Penn State Behrend OF Carson Hauser have each been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Team. Weiss was named to the second team, while Hauser was named to the third.

Weiss is the first Baron softball player to earn NFCA honors and is just the second Franciscan student-athlete to earn all-regional accolades from their individual sport's coaches' association.
 
The Greenwood, IN native did not hit a sophomore slump after a record-setting freshman campaign. Weiss finished the year with a .386 batting average behind 54 hits, 16 for extra bases, and a .636 slugging percentage. Weiss holds the single-season and career records for hits (career – 93; season - 54), stolen bases (career – 65; season – 33 (2018)), triples (career- 10; season – 7), and home runs (career – 13; season – 8). She is currently second in all-time batting average and first in career slugging percentage (.703). Weiss hit eight home runs this year, including a game-ending grand slam against Bethany on Senior Day. On the base paths, Weiss was one stolen base shy of tying her single-season record as she finished 2019 with 32 stolen bases. She was caught stealing just three times this year.
 
Hauser played in all 18 conference games for the Behrend Lions this season. This season, Hauser tallied 37 hits, 23 runs, 12 RBIs, four doubles, one triple, and one home run in 75 at-bats. She finished the season with a .493 batting average. .506 OBP, and .613 slugging percentage. Hauser had a .938 fielding percentage with 55 put-outs from center field. She had her best game against Hilbert where she went 4-for-5 tallying two RBIs and one run off along with two doubles. She stole base 13 times this season, breaking the school record for most career stolen bases. Hauser is the only player in Behrend history to have 150 hits and 50 stolen bases in a career. She finished the season with a team-high 15 multiple hit games and five multiple RBI games. Hauser is ranked first in plate appearances and at-bats, second in runs, and first in hits in the AMCC conference games. She is also ranked third in total bases, second in stolen bases, first in caught stealing, third in batting average, fifth in OBP, and seventh in slugging percentage in AMCC contests.
