SEPTEMBER 8 CROSS COUNTRY ROUND-UP

The Hilbert College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Finger Lakes Community College Bruce Bridgeman Invitational for the first time this week and they were happy with their performances. Hawk senior Megan Lee was the first female to break the finish line tape and fellow senior Adam Droz came in fifth overall in a field of 54 male runners. The men's team took a 4th place finish in a field of 6 teams. The Hilbert women's team was plagued with injuries and no other team in the women's race had five runners so Keuka College won the race.

The Pitt-Greensburg cross country team opened the 2018 season Saturday morning at the Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack Open. The Pitt-Greensburg men's team finished in fourth place, while Kyra Frant, Naushin Siddiqui, and Mary Sherpinsky competed for the women's team. Junior Daniel Spanner paced the Bobcat men's team with a 28th place finish, crossing the finish line with a time of 19:42.3. In the women's race, Frant finished the 5K course in 17th place, finishing with a time of 27:23.1.

The Franciscan University and La Roche College men's and women's cross country teams ran at Bethany College, Saturday morning, in rainy conditions. The Lady Barons finished 12th out of 16 teams while the Barons sent two runners to the meet and did not finish with a team score. Leading the way for the Lady Barons was junior Kristine Stickney as she took 48th overall with a time of 27:51. On the men's side, junior Matthew Crotteau finished 16th overall in the 8k race with a time of 28:37.

The Redhawks fought through the rainy and muddy conditions in Bethany, WV to 15th (men's XC) and 16th (women's XC) finishes. Four men's and four women's cross country runners made their collegiate debuts. Giovanni Anderson got things started for the men's squad with a fast 32:49 on the 8K course. Carly Wilson paced the women's cross country team, finishing in 40:36
