#1 SAINT VINCENT, #3 HIRAM ADVANCE TO MEN'S VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

#1 Saint Vincent College defeated #5 Penn State Behrend in a tight five-set match to advance to AMCC Championship for the first time in program history. The Bearcats won the first set 27-25, with the Lions bouncing right back with a 25-20 victory in set two. Set three went to Saint Vincent 25-23, as Behrend took set four 25-19, forcing the tiebreaker set. The Bearcats pulled out the 15-9 win, giving Saint Vincent the 3-2 victory and punching their ticket to the championship match.

Three players registered 10 or more kills for Saint Vincent, with Shawn McSwiggen putting down 21, Zebadiah Wyant 18 and Matthew Minkin 15.  All three recorded double-doubles in the win, with McSwiggen picking up 15 digs, Minkin 11 and Wyant 10. 

Zach Wyant ran the offense, dishing out 49 assists, while also tallying 12 digs and three blocks. Rocco Marino paced Saint Vincent with four blocks, while McSwiggen led the Bearcats with two service aces.

Penn State-Behrend was led statistically by the duo of Kyle Hoffman and Daniel Easly, as Hoffman recorded 20 kills and Easly 18. Joshua Elegeer had a team-best 17 digs for the Lions (12-16), while Lewis Rhodes led both sides with seven blocks. 

 
In the nightcap, #2 Hiram College defeated #3 Thiel College 3-0 to earn the semifinal victory and advance to the championship match tomorrow afternoon against top seed Saint Vincent. The Terriers won by the scores of 27-25, 25-19, and 26-24.

Kyle Martini led the Terriers with 20 kills, while Jackson Deubner added 10 and Connor Tilton chipped in with seven. Martini recorded the double-double by also adding 11 digs. 

Matthew Albano recorded 39 assists and Garrett Scheidegger had two blocks on the night.

Leading the Tomcats was Kyle Proudfoot with four solo blocks and six kills. Will Zimmerman had eight kills and Josh Pugh 13 digs. 

Top seed Saint Vincent and #2 Hiram will square off on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for the AMCC championship title.
