BEHREND WINS MVB CROWN, AUTOMATIC BID TO NCAA TOURNAMENT

Penn State Behrend won it's second AMCC title and first trip to the NCAA Division III tournament with a 3-1 victory over Geneva College in the 2022 men's volleyball championship.

The top seeded Lions took the first set (25-19), third set (25-17) and fourth set (25-18), while Geneva won the second set (25-23).  The victory avenged a pair of regular season losses to the Golden Tornadoes.

There were plenty of outstanding performances to go around for Behrend, including JP Goodsel (20 kills, 18 digs, 6 blocks), Cody Schnur (16 kills, .419 kill %), Adrian Martinez (14 digs), Diego Ortiz (27 assists) and Alex Jackson (20 assists).  Goodsel and Martinez were named to the all-tournament team.

Geneva (20-15 overall, 13-3 AMCC) got great efforts from Peter Barbato (16 kills, 9 digs), Byron Spear (9 kills, 10 digs) and Curtis Thomas (33 assists).  Barbato and Spear also earned all-tournament team honors.

Behrend (22-7 overall, 14-2 AMCC) will learn its fate in the NCAA tournament on Monday.
