LIONS' HUEY VOTED TO SECOND TEAM OF ALL-ECAC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Penn State Altoona sophomore outside hitter Matt Huey racked up another postseason award on Thursday when he was announced as having been voted to the second team of the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference men's volleyball team.

Huey has already been awarded 2016 Men's Volleyball Player of the Year status from both the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and the North Eastern Athletic Conference, as well as being a first team All-Conference selection in both leagues.

Huey had an outstanding season to help lead Penn State Altoona men's volleyball (17-11, 12-4 NEAC / 6-2 AMCC) to its best record in team history.

Huey led the NEAC and the AMCC in kills (396), kills per set (3.92), solo blocks (28), points (468.0), and points per set (4.6). He also finished the season with 181 digs (1.79 digs per set), 70 total blocks (0.69 blocks per set), and 23 service aces (0.23 aces per set). Among all NCAA Division III men's volleyball players, he ranked fifth in both kills per set and points per set.

The sophomore also garnered numerous awards throughout the 2016 regular season. Huey’s top honor was being named the Division III National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on March 22. He was also selected as the AMCC Player of the Week five times, the ECAC’s Division III South Region Player of the Week four times, and the NEAC's Player of the Week three times.
