The St. Marys men's tennis team posted a 5-1 victory over Penn State Behrend at the 2022 NCAA Tournament held at Mary Washington University on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks move onto the second-round matches in the NCAA Tournament. St. Marys held a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition. Jonathon Laier and Mitchell May picked up the victory at No. 1 doubles. Laier and May took a 2-1 and only trailed once at 3-2 before coming back to defeate Stephen Alam and Kier Nacua, 8-6. The Seahawks earned wins at No. 3, 5 and six singles to end the match. St. Marys only gave up two set points over the three finished singles matches to advance.
