CHRISTOPHER HECKMAN NAMED FIRST HEAD COACH OF MEDAILLE SWIMMING AND DIVING

Medaille College Athletic Director Amy DeKay announced today the hiring of Christopher Heckman as the first Head Coach for the Mavericks Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving programs.

Medaille plans on rostering a team starting in the Fall 2020 and they will practice and hold competitions at the Burt Flickinger Center in downtown Buffalo.  "The Flick" was the host site of the 1993 World University games.

Heckman comes to Medaille after working as an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology.  He is a graduate of Brockport where he received his Master's in Athletic Administration and Bachelor's in Exercise Science.  He was also a member of the Academic All-America team as a member of the swim team.

Heckman hopes to "take his experiences as a collegiate athlete and coach for multiple teams, and bring high level competitive competition, using the four pillars of technique, physiology, conditioning, and psychology."  Through his years he has learned to combine all the crucial parts of the pillars and to apply each to athletics and life outside the pool. He would like to build a well-rounded athlete that can be competitive inside the pool and in the outside world as well.
