BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The Rutgers-Newark (10-5-6) men's soccer team defeated Penn State Behrend (15-3-5) 3-1 in the 2022 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship game on Sunday hosted by Alvernia.

Behrend sophomore M/F Blake CooperJohn Ziobro and Zak Schwarzel were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Rutgers-Newark scored the most goals of the season on the Lions, taking a 3-0 lead before the Lions got on the board. The Scarlett Raiders tallied two goals in the first half and one in the second. Cooper, who scored the game winner in the ECAC semifinals on Saturday, netted the lone goal for Behrend. The sophomore netted his 12th goal of the season in the 82nd minute to cut the lead to 3-1. Rutgers-Newark held a 15-5 shot advantage. Goalie Sam York made one save in goal. The Lions finish the season 15-3-5 overall. 

Last season, the Scarlett Raiders defeated Behrend in the ECAC Semifinals, 4-2
