MEDAILLE EARNS TOP SEED AS MEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF

The AMCC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament kicks off this weekend as Medaille College has clinched the #1 seed and hosting rights for the tournament championship. First round games will kick off this Saturday with #6 Pitt-Greensburg traveling to #3 Mount Aloysius College and #4 Pitt-Bradford hosting #5 Alfred State College. Medaille and #2 Penn State Behrend will each receive first round byes.

Top-seeded Medaille enters the tournament with an 8-0 conference record. The Mavs will be looking for their eighth conference title, and first since 2017. The Maverick offense is led by freshman F Ander Castillo, who is tied at the top of the AMCC with 22 goals, while ranking second with 46 points. Junior M Eric Metade ranks second with nine assists on the season. Freshman GK Dante Gesamondo has had an outstanding season in goal, leading the conference with a .926 save percentage, four goals against, and a 0.40 goals-against-average.

With a 7-1 conference record, Penn State Behrend enters as the #2 seed and will be looking for their 11th conference title. Senior Cameron Eckberg leads the Lion offense with eight goals, tying him for fifth-best in the conference. Senior F Matthew Romesberg, Jr is next on the team with four goals and three assists. Junior GK Sam York ranks second in the league with an .867 save percentage, eight goals against, and a 0.61 goals-against-average. 

Entering the tournament with a 6-2 record is #3 Mount Aloysius. The Mounties are led by freshman M/F Juan Camacho's seven goals and junior F Colby Snyder's six. 

Pitt-Bradford has earned the #4 seed with a 5-3 record in conference play. Senior M/F Chase Rider has had a stellar senior campaign, as he is tied atop the league with 22 goals and has also racked up a conference-leading ten assists for 54 points. Junior F Scott Compson has also chipped in to the Panther attack with eight goals.  Senior GK Sihle Sizani has recorded 86 saves on the year, good for second in the conference. 

#5 Alfred State carries a 3-5 conference mark heading into the tournament. Leading the Pioneer offense is freshman F Nuri Sarbudak with five goals and two assists. Junior M Camren Larabee has also chipped in with two goals and three assists. Freshman GK Thad Grierson ranks fifth in the AMCC with 66 saves, while his 1.66 goals-against-average ranks fourth. 

Rounding out the field is #6 Pitt-Greensburg, also going 3-5 in AMCC action. Senior F Javin Melvin has connected on eight goals this season while also adding two assists. Sophomore M Vinny Treonze has contributed to the Bobcat offense with six goals and two assists. Sophomore GK Danny Rodgers is fourth in the conference with 78 saves, while ranking fifth with a .729 save percentage.  

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 30, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, November 3, with the championship game on Saturday, November 6.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro on December 3-4.
