BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO KENYON IN NCAA FIRST ROUND GAME

The No. 9 Kenyon College Lords men's soccer team had five different players score to defeat No. 20 Penn State Behrend 5-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

The Lords earned the first win in the series history between the two teams. Kenyon buried two quick goals in the first six minutes for an early 2-0 lead. The teams battled through 63 scoreless minutes extending into the second half before the Lords struck again. Kenyon managed to get three more goals past senior Matt Warnaka for the final margin. Warnaka made six saves on 24 shots. The Behrend Lions took seven shots, putting three on goal that were saved by Ian McInturf.
Sebastian Gaese tallied the first goal of the contest, proving to be the game winner, in the fourth minute. Phillippe Stengel tallied two assists for the Lords. Kenyon will advance to the second round tomorrow against the University of Rochester. The Lions finished the season with a program record for wins at 19.
