MEDAILLE AND BEHREND MEN SET TO SQUARE OFF FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP

#1 Medaille College and #2 Penn State Behrend each picked up semifinal victories to advance to the AMCC championship match set for Saturday at 2pm. #1 Medaille earned a tight 1-0 victory over #4 Franciscan University, while Behrend slid past #3 Mount Aloysius College 4-1.

Top-seeded Medaille College battled hard to earn the slim 1-0 victory over the visiting Barons of Franciscan University to punch their ticket to the AMCC Championship match. Maverick senior midfielder Mitchell Ali found the score sheet and broke open a 0-0 tie in the 76'. Ali's solo goal earned the Mavericks a 1-0 lead on the Barons. The goal was his league leading 20th of the season. The semifinal game was finalized at 1-0 Mavericks. Medaille outshot Franciscan 26-11 with 13-8 shots on goal.


Penn State Behrend 4, Mount Aloysius 1
The #2 Penn State Behrend men's soccer team advanced to the AMCC championship game with a 4-1 win over #3 Mount Aloysius on Wednesday afternoon. Behrend will appear in its 22nd AMCC final in program history thanks to two goals and one assist from Richard Blanchard. Blanchard assisted Michael DiCola on the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute. DiCola scored on a header off the corner kick taken by Blanchard for a 1-0 lead. Blanchard tallied his fourth game-winning goal less than seven minutes later on a through ball into the box from Sean Abraham. After taking a two-goal lead at halftime, the Lions added two more before the Mounties got on the board. The next two goals came in a span of 16 seconds, first one came from Aaron Harris and then Blanchard tallied his second of the game seconds later. Harris finished his ninth goal of the season off a quick pass from Tyler Vandemerwe inside the box to make it 3-1. Nick Shideler got the final assist on Blanchard's second goal of the game in the 53rd minute for a commanding lead. Mt. Aloysius goalie James Eyre made three stops in the first half, including one on a penalty kick before the Lions scored their first goal.
 

Medaille will host Penn State Behrend in the AMCC Championship Game at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 9.
