#3 MOUNT ALOYSIUS, #4 FRANCISCAN ADVANCE TO MEN'S SOCCER SEMIFINALS

Both higher seeds picked up men's soccer first round victories on Saturday when #3 Mount Aloysius College beat #6 Pitt-Bradford 4-1, and #4 Franciscan University defeated #5 La Roche University 3-1.

Mount Aloysius 4, Pitt-Bradford 1
Mount Aloysius senior midfielder Joshua Devlin scored his team-leading 18th goal of the season in the 14th minute to put the Mounties ahead, 1-0, as they continued to up put the pressure on the Panthers for the rest of the game. Devlin was able to assist on the Mounties' second goal of the half, as he found Linus Westberg for the score. Westberg's goal came with roughly three and a half minutes remaining in the half, giving the Mounties a 2-0 advantage at the break. While the Panthers would score first in the second half, to cut the deficit to 2-1, Mount Aloysius would add two more to their total to set the final at 4-1.

Franciscan 3, La Roche 1
Baron junior Sebastian Koehler scored the first goal of the game when he found the back of the net in the 20th minute of action to put Franciscan up 1-0. Sophomore MF Nick Miller used a beautiful ball from Koehler to score the second goal of the game in the 40th minute giving the Barons a 2-0 lead. La Roche was able to pull within one after a goal in the 42nd minute by Callan Scharba. Koehler scored his second goal of the game off a ball that passed from Mikey Irvin to Joe Leonardi who then found Koehler who placed the ball in the bottom corner, setting the final score at 3-1.

Semifinal games will take place on Wednesday, November 6 when #4 Franciscan travels to #1 Medaille and #3 Mount Aloysius will play at #2 Penn State Behrend.
