BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER HISTORIC SEASON ENDS IN NCAA REGIONAL SEMIFINALS

The No. 4 Calvin College (19-1) men's soccer team scored three goals in the final 19 minutes to defeat Penn State Behrend (16-4-2) 4-1 in the NCAA Division III Regional Semifinals held at Case Western Reserve University on Friday night.

Calvin punches its ticket into the NCAA Regional Championships with its 13th straight win. All five goals were scored in the second half, with the Knights scoring first in the 48th minute. Calvin's Hunter Olsen scored his 12th goal of the season with a shot that deflected off the defense with 2:55 gone in the second half. The Lions tallied the equalizer in the 62nd minute as Nick McKee chipped a ball into the box for Aaron Harris, who finished the one-on-one opportunity. Logan Brinsky then sent a shot wide on a one-touch left footer in the 71st minute. Calvin tallied three goals over a seven-minute span on counter attacks to take a 4-1 lead with 11 minutes left to play. 

In the first half, the Knights hit the cross bar on a direct kick from 12 yards out and then had a penalty kick stopped by Chris Ralph in the 16th minute to keep it scoreless. Nick Schwarzel had a team save for the Lions in the 54th minute off a header by Drew Van Andel.

Ralph made eight saves on 13 shots taken on goal. Behrend finishes the season with a 16-4-2 record.
