HILBERT NAMED AMCC MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPION

The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team defeated Alfred State College to earn the perfect 3-0 record in AMCC play on their way to being named the 2019 AMCC Men's Lacrosse Champion. 

After building a six-goal lead by half time, the Hilbert men's lacrosse team outlasted Alfred State's second-half rally and earned a 12-9 victory Wednesday afternoon.

Edward Mathias led the Hawks with five points, all on assists as Ryan Spath collected three goals off three shots on goal and was credited with two caused turnovers.

Marc O'Neill tallied two goals and two assists and both Drew Werner and James Duffy notched two goals and one assist.

Joshua Maloney who earned nine face off wins, scooped a team-best five ground balls, as did Elijah Ryan who finished with 17 saves in goal.

Hilbert built a 4-1 lead after the 1st quarter and mirrored that same effort in the second, taking an 8-2 lead to intermission.

Alfred State outscored the Royal and White 6-3 in the 3rd, pulling within three goals by the start of the final session.

Neither team found scoring success in the 4th as they each added one more point on the score board in the last 15 minutes to set the final.
