HILBERT SET TO HOST INAUGURAL AMCC MEN'S LACROSSE SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT

Hilbert College has claimed the inaugural regular season AMCC men's lacrosse title and is set to host the first conference showcase tournament this weekend. With all games being played at Hilbert, first round games will take place on Friday, May 5, and the championship game will be played on Sunday, May 7. 

#1 Hilbert (8-6, 4-0 AMCC) boasts junior A Tyler Nicoloff who leads the AMCC with 79 points and 47 assists, and sits eighth in the conference with 32 goals. Senior A Matthew Simon ranks seventh in the AMCC with 34 goals. Hawk senior GK Adam Zawadzki leads the league with just 109 goals against and a 10.32 goals-against average, while ranking second with a 51.1 save percentage.  

AMCC affiliate member Alfred State (7-9, 3-1 AMCC) has earned the #2 seed, due in large part to their offensive one-two punch in junior A Teddy Alvarado and sophomore A Joe Johnson.  Alvarado is tops in the AMCC with 56 goals and sits in second with 73 points, while Johnson is tied for second with 50 goals and is fifth with 64 points. Defensively, senior GK Ryan Amidon leads the AMCC with a 51.6 save percentage and is second with 180 saves and a 10.90 goals-against average.

Franciscan University (7-7, 2-2 AMCC) enters the showcase as the #3 seed and also features a strong duo on the offensive side. Junior A Jonas McCaig is tied for second in the AMCC with 50 goals and is third with 69 points, while senior M Paul Modzelewski ranks second with 23 assists. Sophomore GK Matt Marrenna is third in the league with 153 saves and a 15.56 goals-against average. 

Medaille College (1-13, 1-3 AMCC) rounds out the showcase as the #4 seed and will look to senior A David Groves to lead them through the tournament. Groves leads the conference with 176 shots, while ranking fifth with his 47 goals and fourth with 65 points. Senior GK Seth Gregg has recorded the most saves in the AMCC this season, with 188, and has recorded a 39.2 save percentage. 

#2 Alfred St. will take on #3 Franciscan on Friday at 2pm, with #1 Hilbert and and #4 Medaille to follow at 5pm. The championship game will be played on Sunday at 2pm.
