BEHREND'S SCULLEY LEADS MEN'S GOLF AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Penn State Behrend men's golf team is in 27th place out of 42 teams at the 2017 Division III Championships at the Mission Inn Resort & Club and the Las Colinas Golf Course.

The Lions have a team score of 317 after the first round for the par 72 course. In front of the leaderboard is Huntingdon with a 293. Three teams are tied for second with a 296, Texas Tyler, Rhodes and LaGrange.

Junior Sean Sculley is tied for 10th overall with an even par at 72. He was even on the front at back (35-37) and at one point was two under after the sixth hole (par 3) and finished with five birdies. Freshman JT Kuchnicki is tied for 123rd place with a day-one total of 80. He tallied a 37 on the front (two over) and then a 43 on the back, recording two birdies.

Senior Cody Stinson tallied an 81 on the first round to sit tied for 142nd. He fired a 39 on the front nine and then shot a 42 on the back nine. Stinson birdied two holes on the back nine to finish nine over par on the day.

Junior Ryan Matlock is fourth on the team and tied for 168th overall. He carded an 84 (41-43) for the day. Rounding out the squad is junior Alex Shindledecker. He managed a 47 out and then 46 on the way back for a 93 and sit in 213th place.

The Lions return to action tomorrow for day two of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
