BEHREND SEEKS SIXTH STRAIGHT AMCC TITLE AS MEN'S GOLFERS TEE OFF ON SUNDAY

Penn St. Behrend is looking for their sixth straight team championship, and eighth overall, as the AMCC men's golf championship tees off at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club in Warren, OH on Sunday.

Behrend placed first at three tournaments this fall, including the Pitt-Bradford, Penn St. Altoona, and La Roche Invitationals. Sophomore Sean Sculley leads the way for the Lions, averaging a 78.8 on the season, good for third in the conference. Sophomore Ryan Matlock sits at fifth in the AMCC with a 79.4 average. Behrend crowned one individual champion this fall when junior Alex Shindledecker took home a first place finish at the La Roche Invitational on September 20. As a team, the Lions are tops in the league, boasting a 318.0 scoring average over seven tournaments.

Penn St. Altoona will look to be the spoilers as their 325.57 season average puts them second behind Behrend. Sophomore Adam Osborn has been pacing the Lions all season, as his 80.57 average is tops for Altoona and 10th in the AMCC.

Pitt-Greensburg sophomore Javon Trout enters the weekend with his sights set on a repeat individual title. Trout, the 2015 individual champion, wraps up the fall season sitting first in the AMCC with a standout 73.8 average over six tournaments.

La Roche College sophomore Ben Mullins is second in the league with a 77.17 average and was the individual champion at the Penn State Altoona Invitational.

The tournament is a two day, 36 hole, stroke play event.  Sunday's first pairings will tee off at 11:00am. Day 1 pairings shall be based on the order of team finish at the previous year’s tournament, with teams La Roche/Mount Aloysius/D'Youville teeing off first, followed by Medaille/Pitt-Bradford/Hilbert at 11:50am, and then Penn St. Behrend/Penn St. Altoona/Pitt-Greensburg at 12:40pm.

Monday's action will commence at 9:00am, with pairings determined by the Day One results.  The tournament team champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which will be held May 16-19 in Howie-in-the-Hills, FL.
