PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Pitt-Greensburg G Matt Johnson started both games for Pitt-Greensburg this past week, where he propelled the Bobcats to conference wins over both Penn State Altoona and D'Youville. With the wins, Pitt-Greensburg is off to its best start in program history (6-1) since the Bobcats joined the NCAA in 1997. In the two wins, Johnson averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, shot 56.7% from the field, 56% from three, and hit 7-of-9 from the foul line. In the win over the Lions, Johnson poured in 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting, knocked down 2-of-3 from behind the three-point arc, and hit 3-of-5 from the foul line. Against D'Youville, Johnson tallied 21 points, dished out six assists, made 7-of-15 field goal attempts, knocked down 3-of-6 from three, and connected on all four free-throw attempts.

 

BEST OF THE REST: Medaille F Jonathan Smith was a force for the Mavericks again this week, as he scored 26 points and added nine rebounds against conference rival Hilbert College, he followed that performance up with another gem, scoring 16 against the Mounties, while also grabbing 11 rebounds...La Roche F Tyler Frederick led the Redhawks with 19 points in a 95-60 victory over Pitt Bradford last Saturday to help LRU improve to 2-0 in AMCC play, as he shot an efficient 5-for-9 (56%) from the field while knocking down a season-high seven free-throws on nine attempts, as he went on to average 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last week...Hilbert G Alex Karamanos led the Hawks to two conference wins last week with his well-rounded play, pulling down both offensive and defensive rebounds, drawing charges, creating havoc in press while producing timely scoring which kept Hilbert undefeated in conference play...PS-Behrend G Kenny Fukon scored a team-best 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, shooting 53.8 percent from the floor in the win over D’Youville, while also adding 10 points vs. Carnegie Mellon... PS-Altoona G Robbie Hicks had a great week for the Lions in a pair of AMCC games, as he averaged 20.0 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 2.0 steals per game, and 1.5 assists per game...Franciscan G Sean Hickey averaged 21 points and four rebounds last week, as he scored 27 points, including six three point field goals made in the Barons' first conference win at Mount Aloysius, and then scoring 15 points in a close loss to Hilbert, becoming the all-time leader in three point field goals made at Franciscan...Mount Aloysius G Julian Stover helped the Mounties to a 1-1 week, as he came up big in their victory against Medaille on Saturday, contributing 14 points and going 2-for-5 from three, while also adding 20 points in a loss to Franciscan put his scoring average for the week at 17 points per game...Pitt-Bradford F Nick Carmichael was the strongest player for Pitt-Bradford in an 0-2 week, as he averaged 16.5 points, 8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game, shooting 58.3% from the field and making all five free throws he attempted...Alfred State G Josh Reding had a career high 31 points in the Pioneers victory over Pitt Bradford, connecting on five 3-pointers and finishing the week with 19 points per game while going 17-for-18 from the foul line.
