PLAYER OF THE WEEK: PS-Altoona C Cameron Gardner-Nicholson had a dominant week in the paint for the Lions in three AMCC games. In Monday's double-overtime loss to Franciscan, he recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds while also blocking seven shots, tying for the second-most blocks in a game in team history. In Wednesday night's loss at Mount Aloysius, Gardner-Nicholson scored a team-high 13 points to go along with four rebounds. In Saturday's big win over Hilbert on his Senior Day, he put up a season-high 26 points and also tied his season-high with 19 rebounds, tying for the third-most rebounds in a game in program history. He also contributed six blocks to tie for the fourth-most blocks in a game in Lions history. On the week, Gardner-Nicholson averaged 19.0 points per game, 12.3 rebounds per game, 4.3 blocks per game, and 1.0 steal per game. He also shot an impressive 75.0% from the field.

 

BEST OF THE REST: Mount Aloysius G Nate Christian led the Mounties to a 2-0 week, which was capped by clinching their third straight AMCC tournament appearance, as he scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds, while shooting an efficient 8-14 from the field against PS-Altoona, then on Saturday, the senior produced a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in the must-win game at D'Youville...La Roche F Tyler Frederick helped the Redhawks clinch their third straight AMCC regular season title with stellar performances in wins over Pitt Greensburg and Alfred State, as he picked up his 15th double-double of the season (T-10th in D-III) with a game-high 27 points and 11 rebounds against Pitt-Greensburg, while also adding three steals and three assists, he followed that up with 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes off the bench against Alfred State...Alfred State G Ryan Gentile finished the season with a big week, as he scored 68 points in three games this week - including 26 vs. Medaille, 18 vs. La Roche, and 24 vs. Franciscan - he shot 48.9% from the field for the week and 54.5% from three (12-for-22)...D'Youville F Will Saunders had an impressive week for the Spartans, helping them take the season series against Pitt-Bradford, as he scored 23 points with 13 rebounds in the team's 84-78 victory over the Panthers on Wednesday afternoon for his second consecutive double-double, he then added 12 points and five rebounds in the loss to Mount Aloysius...Franciscan G Sean Hickey had a very strong week, as the Barons went 2-1, Hickey scored 27 points, tying his career high, in an instant classic 2OT win against Penn St. Altoona, and then followed that up with a new career-high at Medaille with 28 points, while also tying the school record of seven made threes in a game, he ended his week with a career-high seven assists in the loss to Alfred State...Hilbert G Masia Phillips led the Hawks this week, averaging 16 points, 4.5 rebounds, and two assists per game, the senior guard was hot from the foul line shooting 88.9 percent in the two games combined...Pitt-Bradford G Daniel Lynch averaged 12 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in two games for the Panthers this week, including recording his first career double-double, scoring 14 points and dishing out 10 assists, while adding six rebounds, one steal and two blocks in a close loss to DYC...PS-Behrend F Tyler Gates had a career-high 23 points and 11 rebounds for his first-ever double double to help the Lions defeat Hilbert 77-61 on Wednesday night, he shot 71.4 percent from the floor and also dished out a career-best three assists.
