PLAYER OF THE WEEK: La Roche F Tyler Frederick led the Redhawks to their fifth straight win putting up 30 points for the second straight contest Saturday afternoon in a 90-79 victory over D'Youville. Frederick shot 11-of-18 (61%) from the field and reeled in a conference season-high 19 rebounds, picking up his sixth double-double of the season (1st in AMCC, T-24th in D-III). The AMCC Preseason Player of the Year also added two blocks and two assists to the box score. Frederick currently leads the conference in points per game (21.4) and rebounds per game (12.3). His rebounds per game mark is eighth best among all D-III men's basketball players. La Roche improved to 6-0 in AMCC action after Saturday's victory.

 

BEST OF THE REST: PS-Behrend G Kenny Fukon averaged 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Lions, as he registered a career-high 21 points in the win over Waynesburg and then added 13 over Franciscan, while also chipping in with 2.5 assists per game...Pitt-Greensburg G Torian Jenkins helped guide Pitt-Greensburg to a 2-0 record this past week with victories over reigning PAC champion Chatham as well as Pitt-Bradford, as he totaled 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocks against Chatham and followed that performance with his second double-double of the season, recording 12 points and a career-best 18 rebounds against UPB...PS-Altoona C Cam Gardner-Nicholason enjoyed a big three-game stretch for the Lions, including helping his team win the Shenandoah Shootout tournament and being named to its all-tournament team, as he averaged 12.7 points per game, 11.3 rebounds per game, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 73.9% from the field...Medaille G Kirk Hawkins helped pave the way to a 110-77 conference win against Altoona this Saturday, leading his team with 26 points, along with adding two steals and a block, while also earning his 1,000th career point on his second basket of the game...Franciscan F Travis Lien made his season debut on Saturday at Penn St. Behrend, after studying abroad in Austria in the first semester, making his presence known to the AMCC by scoring a team-high 19 points off the bench, while also adding six rebounds and five assists in 31 minutes of play...Mount Aloysius F Carlos Palacio picked up a double-double in the first AMCC win of the new year for the Mounties, as he went 9-for-18 from the field, including 3-for-8 from behind the arc, while also grabbing 11 boards to get his double-double.
