PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Medaille G Kirk Hawkins led the AMCC last week in scoring, averaging 26.0 points per game. Hawkins started out the week with a career-best 30 points in a 100-110 loss at #21 Wooster. Hawkins followed that up with a 29 point, six assist effort against Buffalo State. He wrapped up the week with a 19 point, six assist effort against Morrisville St, helping head coach Keith Hack get his first career win as a head coach. On the week, Hawkins shot 51.1% from the field, 46.2% from three-point range and 81.8% from the free throw line. He also averaged 5.0 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game. Hawkins was also named to the Buffalo State Coles Classic All-Tournament Team.

 

BEST OF THE REST: La Roche JR Tyler Frederick had an astounding weekend at the Marietta Shrine Tournament, picking up two double-doubles against Mount Saint Joseph and Eastern Mennonite, as he accumulated 40 points and 29 rebounds averaging 20.0 points per game (4th in AMCC) and 14.5 rebounds per game (1st in AMCC) on his way to being named to the all-tournament team...Mt. Aloysius G Nate Christian had another impressive week as the Mounties lost in the LVC tournament championship game, as he averaged 21.5 ppg and had a career-high 30 on Saturday, while also receiving all-tournament team honors...Pitt-Bradford F Zach Dahlstrand averaged 17 points and seven rebounds in two losses for Pitt-Bradford this week, including a double-double in the season opener against Houghton going for 18 points and 11 rebounds...Pitt-Greensburg G Jojo France helped guide the Bobcats to their first win over St. Vincent, since Pitt-Greensburg joined the NCAA in 1997, as he tallied 18 points, grabbed five rebounds, and knocked down 4-of-10 from behind the three-point arc in the season-opener against W&J, he then posted 12 points and hauled down a career-best eight rebounds against SVC...PS-Altoona G Jack Kusters scored a team-high 16 points on Saturday to lead the Lions to their second straight win to open the 2019-20 season, a 68-66 victory over tough nearby non-conference foe Juniata, as the sophomore guard made five shots, including going 3-for-7 from three-point range, while also adding three rebounds and two assists...D'Youville F Grant Beyer had a strong opening week for the Spartans as he scored 23 points in the season opener against Fredonia last Tuesday in a three-point overtime loss, while adding three rebounds and two steals, then on Friday in the team's 92-83 win over Wells, Grant again led the team with 24 points and played a crucial part in the team overcoming a late deficit and pulling out their first win of the season...Hilbert G Masia Phillips led the Hawks to a 2-1 record this week, averaging 16.3 points per game and is now just five points away from the 1000 point milestone in his Hawks career...PS-Behrend G Devin Pope went 10-for-15 from the field, shooting 67.0 percent from the floor for a team-high 25 points in the season-opening win over Thiel.
