MEN'S ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED, DARRELL NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR

La Roche University senior guard Devon Darrell has been tabbed the AMCC Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Darrell led the conference in AMCC play with 21.4 points per game and 300 total points against AMCC opponents. Not only did he top the league in scoring, he was also first with 112 overall assists, including 62 in AMCC play. He racked up a seventh-best 23 steals while adding 5.6 rebounds per game. Darrell connected on an AMCC-best 113 field goals in conference play while shooting 52.6% from the field. He scored his 1,000th point this season and recorded a game-high of 33 points while leading the Redhawks to the AMCC regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the championship tournament.

Penn State Altoona sophomore forward Dwayne Jones has been named the AMCC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Year. Jones made a big impact for the Lions defensively this season. In the AMCC, he ranked second in blocks (47) and blocks per game (2.0), seventh in defensive rebounds (107), ninth in defensive rebounds per game (4.5), 12th in steals (32), and 13th in steals per game (1.3). Among all NCAA DIII players, Jones ranked 37th in blocks and 38th in blocks per game.

Penn State Behrend freshman guard Matthew McDonough and Pitt-Bradford freshman guard Jeremy Rodriguez have been named Co-Newcomers of the Year. 

McDonough ranked second on the team with 9.8 points per game and set a program record for most three-pointers in a game with 10. He registered a career-high 31 points against Pitt-Bradford. McDonough scored 86 field goals, dished out 40 assists and made 22 steals while recording double-digit points in six games during his rookie season.

Rodriguez had a strong first campaign for the Panthers, averaging 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Once in conference play, Rodriguez was inserted into the starting lineup and increased his scoring to 11.5 points per game and his defensive production with 2.1 steals per game.

Coach of the Year honors goes to La Roche head coach Hermie Carmichael, as he picks up the nod for the fourth time in his career. Carmichael led the Redhawks to a 20-7 overall record, going 13-1 in conference play. La Roche earned their fourth regular season title in the past four years, while also being crowned AMCC Champions this past weekend.
