PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Alfred State P/1B/OF Matteo Avallone was a vital part of the Pioneers' 3-0 record last week. In three games, Avallone recorded a .636 batting average, 1.182 slugging percentage and hit his sixth and seventh home runs of the season, in which he leads the conference. He also added five RBIs and three runs scored on the week. In their 12-2 win over Houghton, Avallone was walked four times, had one run and one RBI. In their 6-2 win over RIT, he went 3-for-5 including a two-run homer. The very next day, in a 4-3 win over St. John Fisher, he went 4-for-5 with another two-run homer. Avallone also leads the AMCC in RBIs with 23 and is tied for second in batting average with .457.

 

BEST OF THE REST: Mount Aloysius P/INF Tyler Quade had a big week for the Mounties, leading them in hitting and RBIs, as he went 7-for-14 with five RBIs and three runs scored...PS-Altoona C Richard Carey had a huge day in the Lions' home-opening doubleheader sweep of non-conference opponent Chatham last Monday, as he went 6-for-7 (.857) with three runs scored, three RBI, a home run, and a double, while also posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage behind the plate with two putouts and one assist, and throwing out one base-stealer...Hilbert 1B Thomas Evans had a breakout weekend helping lift the Hawks to a 3-0 record with wins over Medaille and Houghton, as he finished the week with a .615 batting average and .769 slugging percentage after recording eight hits, including a pair of doubles, over 13 at-bats, while also tallying a pair of walks, three runs, three RBI and stole four bases...Medaille INF Nolan Gallagher went 2-for-3 at the plate earning himself a .667 batting average, a .667 on base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage, as he had one double with one run scored, he also added one putout and four assists on five total chances earning himself a 1.000 fielding percentage.
